Overview
Seycel is a nationwide Mexican recharge-and-payments platform: it lets neighborhood shops and points of sale sell electronic top-ups (Telcel, Movistar, AT&T…), collect payments for 130+ services (CFE, Sky, Dish, government, gas), and sell electronic pins (Netflix, Spotify, Google Play, Xbox…) — turning any small business into a service counter. The shopkeeper’s tool is a mobile app, and the client hired us to redesign it and add new functionality after the previous version wasn’t working properly.
Before
The existing app wasn’t working properly and its interface was dated — a problem for a tool shopkeepers rely on to run quick, money-handling transactions in front of a customer. Seycel needed it rebuilt: a cleaner, reliable app that made everyday operations — top-ups, service payments, pins — fast and clear, without the friction the old version had.
After
I redesigned the app and implemented the new requirements on top of Seycel’s SOAP web-service API:
- Full UI redesign — rebuilt the interface into a cleaner, more usable layout for the core shopkeeper workflows.
- Single-session protection — enforced one active session per account, so the same login can’t be used on multiple devices at once — an important safeguard for an app that moves money and balance.
- SOAP API integration — wired the app to Seycel’s SOAP-based back end for its transactions.
- Core operations — the redesigned screens shopkeepers use day to day: electronic top-ups, service payments, electronic pins, reports, deposit registration, and point- of-sale management.
Impact
The redesign gave Seycel’s shopkeepers a working, cleaner app for the transactions their business runs on — top-ups, service payments, and pins — replacing a version that wasn’t performing. Single-session protection tightened account security across a network of tens of thousands of points of sale, and the new build modernized the daily tool at the counter.
